Nirupakumari comes from Bordha Village in Tapi District in Gujarat State. Reaching the village from town is very difficult. There is not enough food or clean water available in this village. Her parents are illiterate and are also too sick to work. Her parents cannot support her and is forced to labor by collecting firewood from the forest and selling it in the market place to earn money for food. Her school is very far and she is only able to attend two or three times out of the month. She wants a good education to one day serve as a nurse in her village.
