Nirmala comes from Juna Amalpada Village in Tapi District in Gujarat State. The village is in a remote area. Reaching the village is very difficult. They only transportation is by walking or motorcycle. Her parents abandoned her leaving her to the care of her grandmother who is almost blind. She labors by grazing cows for her neighbor. She lives in a hut made of wild grass as her roof and palm leaves as walls. She wants to attend school that is five miles away but most often can not. She has the heart to help others and shared her food with other children who do not have anything. She is a good singer and wants to become a teacher.
