About Karuna:
Karuna is from Budwada Village in Tapi District in Gujarat. Her village has about two hundred huts made of blue tarp. During the rainy season the huts usually are blown away and the villagers take shelter in the streets. Karuna is the oldest of the family. Her parents abandoned the children in search for work. Karuna is forced into child labor by picking firewood from the forest to sell in the market. Karuna tries to work hard to support her siblings this way. When/if she is able to attend school, can only do so for about 3 or 4 days out of the month. She has a loving heart hopes to become an artist one day.
